Gail C from Seymour Indiana hooks up on his second trip to Cumberland

My friend Gail Cook from Seymour Ind. can usually be found fishing the wilds of Canada for smallmouth, walleye and big northerns. This was Gail's second trip to Cumberland. Last year we fished pretty hard for two days and came up with an empty stringer. This year wasn't a whole lot better but we did manage to get Gail hooked into this nice 9 pounder after about two hours of fishing the main lake near Beaver Creek.

Nice fish, Gail!

Hoosier limits out on first Striper trip!

 Full Report Here

Uncle Stan boats a 15lb striper!

Fish are schooling and if you hit one it's easy to limit out fast.  We boated a 15lb, and a 17lb fish this weekend, and I've been pleased with the size of all the fish we've been catching.

18lb striper!

For this time of year, it's tough to catch a fish this big.  Stripers are schooling, had doubles both sat and sun morning..

Nice fish, Kelly!

The stripers are back on!  We caught them in the Jamestown area, and in the main lake near the dam.

This just in!  A couple friends of mine called me at 7AM this morning (Friday).  They had their limit in 30 minutes.

It was a beautiful weekend, water temp is around 83 at the surface.  Some REALLY nice pics here

I'm heading down tonight, ready for a fish fry.

I would like to enter this picture in the contest for the front page of striper fishing.com! More Pics here

This is a picture I took Sunday morning.  Knowing the cast net would result in hundreds more shad than I needed, I decided to use the 6" minnow net instead.  3 scoops, and I was set with about 50, which lasted 2 days.  These shad were not circling as usual.  Is it because they are a different type?  Or, because they were spawning?

You tell me here

What to do when you can't catch fish.

;Jeff patiently awaited the striper's attack.

See what patients will earn you.

Jimmy, let's go fishing.  Bring your son, and your wakeboard.  We'll hook Kyle up with a big one.

Just don't bring any 18" stripers on my boat ok?  And I wanna see some air off that wake this time, ok?

3/23/03 Fish on!

Where was everybody?  Watching basketball?  You could'a been catchin Stiper!  Striper report here.

The sun sets over Jamestown marina.

3/16/03 65 Degrees on the lake, sunburn!

What a beautiful day it was.  I did fish, but couldn't hook up, lots of muddy water.  The water temp was 54, and I did see one guy water skiing!  Can't wait for summer.

2/19/03 Fishing Reports coming soon

I have been to the lake a couple times this winter, with no success to report.  The water is cold, no action, except for one small mouth.  Fish or no fish, I will start posting regular reports sometime in late April.  Please bookmark the site, and come back soon!

9/30/02 Fishing Report

Where have all the big ones gone?  We had a tough time catching one worth keeping.  Luckily, the little guys were flipping around, and swam away healthy.

Striper RASH!  For those of you who DO catch striper, you know what this is!  For those of you "level 5" fisherman, your thumbs have developed a resistance to this.

Catching striper this weekend was NOT A PROBLEM!  Full Report here.

7/5, 6, 7
Black Sunday strikes!  Must have been a darn Striper town meeting.  Sunday morning, around 8AM, 5 of our 9 rods bent over!  Full Report here.

6/27, 28
Another exceptional weekend of fishing!  The Davidson's fishing trip was a success.  5 on Saturday, 4 on Sunday.  Again, not everyone on the lake did as well, I even talked to one guide who told me they only caught two yesterday morn.  Another boat, manned by Jeff and Bob, fished the same waters we did, and they came up short.  hmmmm...  Full Report here.

6/23,24  A fun weekend of fishing!  Saturday's catch, 9, 12, and 14 # fish.  A lot of action very early in the morning.  For the full report, go here .  I talked to a lot of guys who only landed one, or NONE this weekend.  Every fish we caught was before 7AM.

6-1-2002, Pulled in 2 good size stripers both Sat and Sun morning, each day, both were caught very early (around 7-7:30AM).  Fished a couple more hours, nothing.  If you weren't out early, sorry!  Full Report here!

To the "JUG FISHERMAN" in lilly creek:  come on guys.....  give me a break.  At least you could use something besides yellow Pennzoil quarts.

5-11-2002, Put the boat in at Taylorsville lake for some Mother's day fun this weekend, so, sorry, I have no Cumberland news for you.  I know, I know, that is sacrilege, but what can I say, Cumberland is a 3 hour drive, and it was Mother's day & all!  The kids caught (and released) blue gill there, we didn't really even bass fish at all.  I did get up on the wakeboard a few times, however.

You DID visit your mother, instead of going fishing, didn't you?

Check out the fishing reports on the messageboard!

5-5-2002, Derby weekend at the lake!  Cold and rainy.  It sure was a cold and wet ride from alligator to the main lake.  But, the fishing was worth it!  Well, not for my boat, but for dad and Jeff's boat...

Check out the photo album with the 41# MAC DADDY!  They also pulled in 3 on sat and 3 on sun, including one 30#'er.  Please forgive the "jig and pig" nonsense.  Jeff gets a little carried away sometimes.
